Home Staging FAQ's

Who can benefit from home staging?

Anyone who is putting their property on the market, whether a modest condo or a million dollar plus home all can benefit from home staging. We can make a poor prospect look good, and a good home look great!

Homeowners who have had their property on the market for an extended period of time with no offers. "Staging" is always less costly than a price reduction, although some homes need both.

Many Realtors are reluctant to address certain issues for fear of alienating their client or hurting their feelings.  But, unfortunately sometimes things need to be said to get the problem taken care of.  We will do that job as diplomatically as possible.

What is involved with having my home staged?

A consultation is the first step in the process. Your Stager will address each room in your home, including the exterior, and make recommendations. You will receive a written report. Each job is different, as is each home that is staged. Your report will also indicate what the fee will be for the actual staging. Many homeowners given the direction and having the time are able to make the necessary changes to their home themselves. Others do not have the time or the inclination to address the problems on their own.

When should I contact "In Order of Appearance?"

It is always best for the Stager to come in prior to the property actively going on the market. Many homes have issues that need to be addressed, painting, furniture removal, wallpaper removal etc. Helping a homeowner make decisions and resolve these issues is part of the job. This is when you need the consultation.

When is my home ready to be staged?

After the consultation, when the painting has been done, the carpeting shampooed, and the home professionally cleaned is when the Stager comes in.

How long does it take to have a home staged?

In the majority of cases, it takes a day or less.

What is the difference between an "Interior Decorator" and a "Stager?"

An interior decorator is hired to create an atmosphere based on the client’s personal taste. Because we don’t all care for the same thing, a Stager tries to remove or downplay a lot of the homeowner’s personal taste to make the home more universally appealing.
